Use Optimal Dust Collection System Methods
- Size Matters - Our Dust Boot is designed to use a 5-inch duct.
- This plays a dramatic role in the performance of your dust collection.
- See How Duct Size Affects Airflow
- Reductions - Only reduce the ducting from the maximum size of the port (at Dust Collector) once you reach your dust collection source (tool, spindle, etc). You can't size up but you can size down.
- Limit the length of flexible ducting you use to a minimum. It increases turbulence which decreases the performance of your airflow.
- Use smooth-walled (metal typically) ducting whenever possible except at the last section to connect to the Dust Boot.
- Shut off any unused tools with gates in your dust collection system.
- Clean your Dust Collection Filters Regularly.
- Clearvue recommends daily maintenance - tapping the outside of the filter all around and then a light 60 PSI air blast to further release built-up fine particles inside.

Set Dust Boot Brush to Create Seal
To capture as much dust created by your CNC router, you need to ensure the brush touches the work surface.
To do that you can:
- Use Longer Brush - See options here
- Add a Brush Plate Spacer(s) - without our ATC Pedestal style racking this will cause collisions on bar-rack style ShopSabre machines
- Slide your Dust Boot Top Plate down your spindle nose some
- Unscrew Top Plate and then shift down your mounting plate (if spindle nose mounted) to add a little more reach in Z depth. Consider if this will impact your tool changer.
- Use a Shorter Tool Holder - we recommend our 45mm long ISO30 here for HSD spindles.
- Choke up your tool in the holder.
